Extract colour from madder, weld and indigo and dye wool and silk over six weeks.

How the session runs.

Three steps, at your pace. Your tutor stays beside you the whole time.

Step 01

From the garden

We harvest from the dye garden and talk about mordants, fibres and what makes a colour last.

Step 02

Into the pots

Weekly dye baths with madder, weld, onion skins and walnut, keeping a sample book as we go.

Step 03

A small collection

You leave with a full sample book and a set of dyed yarn and cloth to use at home.

Before you arrive.

Everything for the class is already on the bench. Here is what you will leave with, and the little you need to bring.

What you’ll make
