Introduction to Linocut

Carve a block, mix your ink and pull a small edition of prints.

£85

per person

Carve a lino block from your own drawing, mix ink and pull a small edition by hand and on the press.

● The class

Carve a lino block from your own drawing, mix ink and pull a small edition by hand and on the press.

How the session runs.

Three steps, at your pace. Your tutor stays beside you the whole time.

Step 01

Draw and transfer

Bring a sketch or use one of ours. We transfer it onto lino and talk about light, dark and what to cut away.

Step 02

Carve the block

You learn the gouges, carve safely towards the edge, and test small areas as the image appears.

Step 03

Ink and pull

Roll out ink, press by hand and on our old press, and leave with a small edition of your own prints.

Before you arrive.

Everything for the class is already on the bench. Here is what you will leave with, and the little you need to bring.

What you’ll make

A hand-pulled edition of up to ten small prints.

Runs the press room and keeps the risograph happy.

The best Saturday I've had in years. Phones away, hands inky, tea on the bench.
