● The class

Fold, bind and dip linen in a living indigo vat, and watch the colour arrive as the cloth meets the air.

How the session runs.

Three steps, at your pace. Your tutor stays beside you the whole time.

Step 01

Fold and bind

Learn three classic shibori folds and bind your cloth with thread, clamps and wooden blocks.

Step 02

Into the vat

Dip into our living indigo vat, watch green turn to blue in the air, and build depth with each dip.

Step 03

Unwrap and rinse

The reveal: unbind, rinse and hang your pieces to dry, then take home a scarf and two napkins.

Before you arrive.

Everything for the class is already on the bench. Here is what you will leave with, and the little you need to bring.

What you’ll make

Two shibori pieces: a napkin and a small wall cloth.
