● The class

Warp a small frame loom, learn plain weave and soumak, and finish a striped wall piece in wool from our own dye garden.

How the session runs.

Three steps, at your pace. Your tutor stays beside you the whole time.

Step 01

Warp the loom

Wind the warp onto your frame, set the tension and learn how the threads will hold your weaving together.

Step 02

Weave the rows

Plain weave first, then soumak and a few colour changes, with Ada beside you as the stripes build up.

Step 03

Finish and hang

Tie off the warp, weave in the ends and mount your piece on a dowel to take home the same day.

Before you arrive.

Everything for the class is already on the bench. Here is what you will leave with, and the little you need to bring.

What you’ll make

A small striped wall hanging on a wooden dowel, ready to hang.
